Dental implants have been used for restoring function & esthetics of a missing tooth, all the way back since 1960s. Material wise there are 2 types of dental implants:
- Metallic-Titanium implants
- Ceramic- Zirconium implants
With patients becoming more aware and involved about the treatment options, the materials used and their impact on their overall health, Zirconia implants are a metal-free alternative to Titanium implants with equally efficient aesthetics, function, and durability.
We at 'insert practice name' use CeraRoot and Z-systems both of which are pioneers in Zirconium implants.
Why should I get Zirconium Implants?
Osseointegration is the fusion between the jawbone and the implant interface. It is vital for a successful implant. Research shows similar bone adherence quality in Zirconia as Titanium without showing any inflammation or foreign body reaction.
Strength & Durability
Zirconia implant possesses the ability to withstand high masticatory loads which is integral for the success and function of an Implant.
Although Titanium implants are quite biocompatible, a small percentage might still develop an allergic or autoimmune reaction. Zirconia is a viable option for patients with metal allergies.
Zirconium implants have superior aesthetics to metal implants . Because of their white color, in a thin biotype of gums, it will reflect from the gumline and will be aesthetically pleasing
Zirconium implants are bioinert and because of being metal-free, they don't give a metallic taste or a slight galvanic current that sometimes patients with metal implants complain about.
Because Zirconium implants are metal-free, there is no chance of a corrosion
The margin of Zirconia implants is at gum levels, making it easier to keep clean.
Design-Zirconium implants comprise an efficient one-piece design, preventing it from shifting and reducing any chances of bacterial buildup and infection.
Single-visit surgery-CeraRoot implants are immediately placed after tooth extractions, which minimizes implantation time and maximizes comfort. It is a minimally invasive, one-stage surgery with less pain and a shorter healing time.
For patients seeking Holisticdentistry in Costa Rica, Zirconium implants are an excellent treatment option for replacing missing teeth.
How Do Zirconium Implants Procedure Work?
The procedure starts with a local anesthesia. A space is made in the jawbone using special drills, and the implant is placed by Dr. Vargas. The procedure takes about 40 minutes to an hour. A temporary crown is placed over the implant while it heals. It takes around 6-12 weeks to achieve an ideal osseointegration.
The temporary crown is then replaced with a permanent one.
